Versatile Uses
- Bird watching and wildlife viewing - Spotting scopes are commonly used for observing birds, wildlife and nature. They allow you to view animals from a safe distance without disturbing them. Spotting scopes provide much better magnification than binoculars for this purpose.
- Target shooting - Spotting scopes are very useful for target shooters to see the bullet impacts on the target from a distance. They allow precision shooters to make accurate adjustments to aim.
- Stargazing and astronomy - Higher power spotting scopes can be used for astronomical viewing like observing the moon, planets and celestial objects. Some spotting scopes can also be mounted on astronomy telescopes to enhance the viewing experience.
- Hunting - Many hunters use spotting scopes to scout for game animals before the hunt. They help in spotting the game animals, judging their size and numbers from a distance. Some hunters also use spotting scopes with range finding reticles to estimate the distance to the target.
- Surveillance - Spotting scopes can be used for surveillance purposes to monitor activities from a long distance. Some spotting scopes have adapters to mount cameras for video recording.
- Sailing and boating - On boats and sailboats, spotting scopes are useful for spotting landmarks, navigation aids and spotting wildlife like whales or dolphins from a distance.

Since I had a mid-sized (ball head) tripod already, I didn't use he supplied one - many reviews told me don't bother. Then I modified the supplied adapter - removed the suction pad and replaced it with a clamp-type holder. (This suction pad imho might drop your phone after a few minutes - not good).
But as for the scope itself, I was very impressed. Distortion is hardly noticeable, even close to the edges, and chromatic aberration minimal. In short: fantastic value for money.
After getting back pain from constantly bending down using the small tripod, I bought a Manfrotto 290 Light which was a game changer.
Moon and Jupiter pictures taken with a Galaxy S7 on Pro mode - this means you need to fiddle with exposure and set distance to infinity, and I also use a low ISO (50-80). The (inferior) bird shot was taken with a Note S5 and the smaller tripod on automatic.
Being in Australia also means the moon is upside down!
The distance shot is the Frankston (Victoria, Australia) foreshore about 3.5kms (2 miles) away.
Pros:
- excellent glass and build
- easy to focus (2 knobs)
- minimal aberrations
- quality of images far above average, almost hard to believe (but from 50x onwards things will get dimmer)
Cons:
- tripod only really useful for quick setup and basic playing around
- avoid using the suction pad unless your phone is fully insured
Considering the tripod cost me almost as much as the scope, I would do it again! Because with a stable tripod this scope will be such a lot of fun and will deliver rewarding results, no matter what you are 'shooting'...
PS I would avoid a ball head tripod - a pan/tilt (fluid) head is much easier to adjust (especially if you are into star gazing).

Then I received the scope and found that it lives up to pretty much everything stated in the listing. Even at maximum zoom there is no distortion, no blur and no discoloration. Images over 300 yards away are crystal clear. The controls are all intuitive and easy to operate. I can't say enough good things about this scope. It is solid.
The table top tripod is not the greatest quality, but it is functional. Is there is a spotting scope that DOES come with a decent tripod? I might try the cell phone adapter, but I'm leery of hanging my phone five feet above the ground by a suction cup. And that little remote for snapping pictures while your phone is attached to the scope? I'll never use it. So, I won't be using the tripod, (I have a tall tripod I use), I doubt I get much use out of the phone adapter and won't be using the remote to snap pictures. Well, the remote might not be a bad idea for taking selfies. I mean, your phone doesn't have to be hanging from the scope in order for the remote to work - and it does work. Anyway, none of this stuff matters to me as they are not why I purchased this scope. I purchased it because of it's specs and it lives up to them.
Now I do disagree with the 'glasses' claim that wearing glasses while looking into the eyepiece is no problem. It's a problem for me. However, it's the same for any scope I've ever used so I don't blame this scope. And, I did have a minor issue with the rubber cover on the front lens shade being loose and came off as I took the scope out of the case. A little gorilla glue took care of that.
Other than these tiny quibbles, I'm super satisfied with this scope. It puts the scopes each of my sons have to shame. At 300 yards we could see each hit on the target with no issues. One of my sons freely admitted that his scope gets blurry and darker at that distance and was very impressed with this scope. I feel this scope is under valued at it's current price point and I really don't understand why this scope isn't more widely available. I guess those of us that find it here on Amazon are the lucky ones. This scope is as good as they say it is.
One minor update but it's not about the scope itself. I don't take a lot of pictures, but I've found I like using this remote when I do take pictures. It just seems easier to me than trying to find the right spot on the screen to press to snap a picture. Granted, I'm old and don't have the best eyes so finding that sweet spot to snap a picture can be a pain for me. Using the remote just seems easier. I just consider the remote a bonus. I still love this scope though and have no regrets on this purchase.
The zoom knob on the eyepiece lens is a very tight (and hence 1 less star) and I'm guessing it is because its new. With more use I'm hoping it becomes smooth. That is one thing that could be improvised/fine tuned. At the sub $200 price range I doubt if it is economical to offer detachable eye piece feature but would be a great feature in future versions.
This scope came with a few accessories: A tripod, cell phone adapter, bluetooth clicker, rubber-nylon cover that can be kept on for protection while viewing, objective lens cap, eyepiece cap, and a microfiber lens cleaning cloth.
The 1-foot tall tripod can be kept on a table and used for viewing. Its not a heavy duty tripod with a smooth ball head but it gets the job done.
The blue tooth clicker can pair with your phone to click without shaking/touching your phone. Have yet to try and test it out.
All in all, I like this scope, seems like a good bang for your buck.
